Welcome to Hindlip School!

Hindlip C.E. First School is set in the village of Fernhill Heath. The building was consecrated in 1879 as a Chapel of Ease for the Hindlip family and it was first used as a school in 1894, although Hindlip School itself actually came into being in 1869 at Sandyway.
We first hear the name Hindlip during Anglo Saxon times. The name Hindlip originates from the deer leap which was sited here when the area was on the edge of the Forest of Feckenham. The deer leap was built by people living on the edge of the forest. This was a fence with ditches on one side over which the deer and in particular the hinds of the larger Red Deer could easily jump out of the King's forest but not get back in. Villagers were then able to hunt the deer legally thus avoiding the savage punishment of death if caught plundering the King's deer within his forest.
The origins of the name "Hindlip" come from the "Hind's Leap".
The school building has been remodelled and whilst the exterior remains of genuine Victorian design, the interior is modern. Pupils are usually drawn from the parishes of Hindlip, Salwarpe and Martin Husingtree with some out of area admissions also. Places at our school are allocated by the Local Education Authority.
The school grounds provide us with a playground, adventure playground and a garden area including a pond. We also have a sports field a short walk away down a leafy lane. These along with the village provide opportunities for first hand learning in Science, History, Geography and R.E.
Our school works closely with other small schools in the area. This provides opportunities for the children to work together, sharing sporting events and other occasions. We are also a member of the Castlemorton Primary School Beacon Group. Staff from all the schools are able to share training, resources, ideas and expertise.
As a Church of England controlled school we have links with both the local church of St Michael and All Angels, Salwarpe and the wider community.
At the time of writing we have 97 pupils on roll. They are taught in four classes. Reception pupils are in Red Class, Year 1 pupils are in Blue Class , Year 2 pupils and some of our Year 3 pupils are in Yellow Class whilst the rest of our Year 3 and all of our Year 4 pupils are in Orange Class .
At the age of nine, most of our pupils transfer to either Witton Middle School or Westacre Middle School in Droitwich and from there to Droitwich High School. However, there is no automatic right of transfer to these schools and normal County Policy applies.
