SCHOOL ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

SPORT ENGLAND ACTIVE MARK GOLD

November 2005

This is a national quality mark awarded by Sport England.  This involved completing a thorough assessment of all aspects of PE at our school.  It also involved planning for the future development for the next three years, in terms of the curriculum, out of hours teaching and community links. Of 977 appications received by Sport England this year, we were one of only 324 schools awarded the Activemark Gold

ARTSMARK GOLD

May 2005

The Artsmark award recognises schools that demonstrate a commitment to providing opportunities across all artforms from drama to music, design to literature, art and craft to dance. The scheme also encourages schools to work in partnership with artists and arts organisations. The award can be made at 3 levels, Artsmark, Artsmark Silver or Artsmark Gold. We congratulate all staff who have worked hard to achieve the highest award for our school. We have been invited to send 2 adults and 2 children to the awards ceremony in Wolverhampton on 1st July, so we have decided to have to have an art competition for the children - the two winners will accompany the staff who attend

FOOTBALL CHARTER STATUS

May 2005
We have recently achieved Football Charter Status. One of the initial benefits of this is a grant for kit and equipment which Mrs Thomas is currently pursuing. We thank her for her efforts in attaining this status.

BASIC SKILLS QUALITY MARK

June 2005
Basic skills means 'the ability to read, write and speak in English and use mathematics at a level necessary to function and progress at work and in society in general'. The award recognises commitment to raising standards for all our pupils, especially those who struggle with their basic skills.
We are delighted to inform you that following a rigorous visit by an LEA assessor yesterday, we have been awarded the 'Basic Skills Quality Mark' with no recommendations. We are, of course delighted. It is another high commendation for all our staff, both teaching and non-teaching, for all their efforts and dedication.
