Welcome back! I hope you enjoyed the half term break - it seemed to go very quickly!!! The children have filled me in on various Halloween parties they have attended and I even saw some of them out and about. If you are attending a fireworks event over the weekend I hope you enjoy it, as they are an excellent opportunity for your child to see something different. I will be doing a fireworks safety assembly on Monday. This may seem like a long term but it is one that soon catches up with us around Christmas time. I hope that your children continue to have a good learning experience at Hindlip and wish to reiterate that if you do have any ideas, questions or concerns about how we can improve the school please do not hesitate to come and see me. Thank you. J. Tilley.
Road Safety Week
Thank you to West Mercia Police Force and in particular, Inspector Brooker who have donated £400 to help improve the safe passage of pupils around our school. Also, a big thank you from me to Sue Barnes and Julia Letts whose tireless efforts with the County Council are seeing slow but steady progress towards improved signage. To show our commitment to the issue we are having a 'Wear something Bright' day next Friday 9th November. In return for a donation your child can wear anything bright to school that day. All funds raised will be used to support road safety around the school.
Our SEAL topic for this half term is 'Getting on and falling out.' I will deliver lessons on this theme once a week to each class, as well as run special assemblies to compliment this. We will also support anti bullying week which runs the 19th - 23rd November.
We are supporting the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal. If you wish your child to have a poppy please send them in with a donation. Orange Class are organising a rota whereby they will collect the money. Due to the number of poppies we have been sent, initially we are limiting sales to one per pupil. Thank you.
After School Clubs
We are offering the following clubs at the moment:
Tuesday - Year 2 Multi Skills Sports 3:00 - 3:45pm
Wednesday - Y1 Golf Club 3:00 - 3:45pm (all children who brought in the slip have a place)
Wednesday - Netball Club 3:00-4:00pm
Thursday - Y3 and 4 Drama Club 3:00 - 4:00pm (Includes singing, dancing and a performance at the end of term).
Please note that football club on Wednesdays will restart when it gets lighter in the Spring Term.
We have finished our programme of assemblies about Black History Month. Thank you to Sian Pillay who visited Yellow and Orange Classes to talk about Nelson
Mandella. The children really enjoyed learning about his life and the cause he fought for.
Thank you for all your donations of Sainsbury's vouchers last summer. We have bought a huge Connect 4 and Jenga games for the play area, as well as many new smaller items of sports equipment for the children to use at playtimes. If you have any old cars, construction kits or lego we would gratefully receive it. Pupils and staff wish to develop playtimes so that children have more to do and these types of things would be really useful for the quiet area. If you think of anything else that may be suitable please do not hesitate to bring it in. Thank you.
The Grounds Department from the County Council have kindly agreed to install barriers on Sling Lane to prevent vehicular access to the school field.
We would like to welcome our two PGCE students who are doing their first placement at Hindlip and then returning in the summer term. Miss Stugden will be working with groups from Yellow Class and Miss Campbell with Red Class.
Thank you for your voluntary
contributions of £1.50 per session or £15 for the term - these are needed for us to sustain the music project in Years 3 and 4.
Some of you may have noticed our website has not been updated recently, (except for the newsletter each week). This is one of our targets for the Autumn Term when myself and Lorenna Lewis will receive training in how to do it!
Ian Burley our Community Support Police Officer monitored the area outside school . He would like to point out the need for you to provide your child with a booster seat and not to park across the road, but in the Memorial Hall.
Don't forget to put the Hindlip Bazaar on Friday 23rd November at 3:00pm.in your diary! Yellow Class and The Friends have arranged some stalls and entertainment so this will be an exciting event. Some of the things that Yellow Class have organised are advertised on posters around school, particularly in the gallery area in the library. One of our parent governors Julia Letts is visiting the class next Tuesday to do some radio jingles with them.
