18 Oct 2007 - Newsletter

Well done to the Year 4 pupils who competed in the Cluster Schools Indoor Athletics Event. They finished a creditable 4th against some schools with more pupils than us to choose from. Mrs Thomas was impressed by the positive attitudes of the children as well as some outstanding individual performances from Tyler Kilminster, Aston Scholes, Amber Bradshaw and Oliver Oxley. This event has been made possible due to our good links with Droitwich High School and we thank them and Mrs Thomas for their hard work behind the scenes.

Thinktank Trip:
This went extremely well on Tuesday and the children seemed to enjoy all the interactive activities. They
certainly experienced things that we could not provide in the classroom, which makes the trip good value for money. The staff at the Thinktank were very impressed with the
children's knowledge and behaviour throughout the day. I would like to extend my thanks to all the staff and parents/helpers who accompanied us on the visit and hope that they had a good time! Thanks must also go to Mrs Mirza for organising the week.

The children also looked at some animals and received an educational talk by the Animalwoman (Amber Horne's mum!). She showed them a variety of animals including lizards, rats, pythons, hedgehogs, tarantulas and even a bearded dragon. They really seemed to enjoy it and thanks must go to Ms Bennett for offering her services.

YELLOW MOON
Please see the attached letter and catalogue, for details of a fun fundraising idea for our school. There is also a copy of the Friends Autumn Newsletter. Please take the time to read this as their work is extremely valuable for the school.

New After School Clubs
Starting the first week back we are offering the following:
Tuesday - Year 2 Multi Skills Sports 3:00 - 3:45pm
Thursday - Y3 and 4 Drama Club 3:00 - 3:45pm (Includes singing, dancing and a performance at the end of term). There is a maximum of 20 children, who will be drawn out of a hat.
Starting the second week back:
Wednesday - Y1 Golf Club 3:00 - 3:45pm (Maximum 12 children due to equipment and safety, who will be drawn out of a hat)

There are slips that accompany this newsletter. It is really important that the multi skills slip comes in on Monday 29th October if your child wants a place as we need to know numbers.
Please note that football club on Wednesdays will restart when it gets lighter in the Spring Term.

Reminder that the children finish today for half term, as there is a Teacher Day on the Friday. This will be spent setting teacher's targets and reviewing planning for the next half term. We hope you all have a good half term and will see you back at school on Monday 29th October.

October is Black History Month. The children have looked at Martin Luther King this week.

If you have any old cars, construction kits or lego we would gratefully receive it. Pupils and staff wish to develop playtimes so that children have more to do and these types of things would be really useful for the quiet area. If you think of anything else that may be suitable please do not hesitate to bring it in. Thank you.

Thank you for your voluntary contributions of £1.50 per session or £15 for the ter -these are needed for us to sustain the music project in Years 3 and 4.

The introduction of the new sports award has been so popular that we are going to create a special assembly on Wednesday mornings for them, as the volume of achievement means a Friday's assembly is over running. If your child achieves something outside of school please get them to bring it in on Tuesdays and give it to Mr Tilley. Thank
Ian Burley our Community Support Police Officer monitored the area outside school last week. He would like to point out the need for you to provide your child with a booster seat and not to park across the road, but in the Memorial Hall.
