Governor News
Welcome to a new school year, Mr Tilley our new Headteacher, and all our new children and parents.
In our role as governors at Hindlip, we like to keep you updated about our work. At our last meeting on 10th September, Rosie Taylor (Alex's Mum), was appointed as our new Chair, and Justine Morris (Lydia and Jack's Mum), was appointed our new Vice-Chair.
We like to hear from you, so please talk to us if we can help in any way. Other governors that you will know are Julia Letts (Izzy and Charlie Macintosh's Mum), Wendy Browning (Abigail's Mum), Mark Asplen (Shannon's Dad), Mrs Thomas and Mr Tilley. The other members of the Governing Body are not in school as often, but can be contacted via another governor or the school office.
Thank you for completing the questionnaires about the climbing frame and extended services. The results of both responses are displayed on the parents' noticeboard. Copies are available from the office if you wish.
There is an important presentation on phonics teaching being held in our Reception classroom on Friday 28th September between 8:50am and 9:20am. Mrs Mirza and Mrs Evans will demonstrate how we teach phonics at Hindlip. Then you can have a coffee in the hall - see below!

A polite request - please can all Reception children have a spare set of underwear in their book bag in case of emergencies! Can you ensure that they have a coat in school as well please, especially on a Friday morning. The staff have been really pleased with the children and how well they have settled.
We are having a coffee morning next Friday 28th September in support of MacMillan Cancer Support. It will start at approximately 9:30am in the school hall. Please come along and have a chat with fellow parents and enjoy a cup of coffee. If you wish to support the event even further it would be great if you could bake some cakes with your children and send them in on Thursday afternoon or Friday
morning.
Reminder - please send in photograph orders as soon as possible please, then we can forward them to the photographers.
The children had a fantastic time at Police Headquarters on Thursday looking at their art display and nvestigating the cars and motorbikes. The police had a chat with the children and we are extremely grateful for them giving our pupils the opportunity to experience what they did.
We would like to formally thank the Fernhill Heath War Memorial Hall committee for their continued support of the school in allowing us to use their car parking facilities at pick up time. Please could you ensure that you are sensitive to the needs of the others when picking up. Thank you.
Housepoints Challenge!
We are going to introduce a house system into school to celebrate individual and team success across the school. We feel it is important that every child receives praise for their efforts and this system should go some way to making this happen. There will be three houses (teams) all earning points throughout the week. The winning house will be announced during Friday's assembly and will receive the trophy for a week. The names of the houses are going to be decided by the school Council so Mrs Evans needs suggestions at the start of next week. Please work on this with your child - ideas could include famous people, local hills, rivers etc. Details of our whole school awards are attached tothis newsletter.
We have some redundant printer cartridges due to a technological mishap!!! They will fit many different types of printers apart from ours! If you want to purchase one for £10 (normal price £29.95)please come to the office.
