Hindlip First School Newsletter

7th September 2007

May I extend a warm welcome to all the children and parents of Hindlip First School. As you are aware Mrs King retired last summer, leading to my appointment as headteacher. I am delighted to be here and am looking forward to the challenge of taking the school forward, following the excellent work of Mrs King. If you have any questions or would just like to meet me for a chat please feel free to pop in to the office. I would also like to welcome Mrs Simcox who will be teaching Blue Class from Monday to Wednesday. In addition to this it is excellent to see Mrs Holmes making a recovery from her hip operation and even managing to come in to school for the mornings. Her presence has really helped me and I wish to thank her for this supreme effort.

The photographer will be coming to school next Tuesday 11th September. It is anticipated he will be ready to take photos at 8:30 am in the school hall, starting with children who have other brothers and sisters not at Hindlip. The rest of the children will be timetabled throughout the day to have individual photos and the opportunity to have one with brothers or sisters as well.

With this newsletter Years 1, 2, 3 and 4 will receive the following forms:
Update of contact details and personal information - only fill this in if there has been any change of details please.
Responsible Internet Use
Official Photography in School consent
Consent form for educational visits and medicines
Reception children should have received these in the Summer Term and already have handed them in. Please can these forms be filled in and handed in to the school office as soon as possible - thank you.

The staff have formed a list of behaviour expectations that we will be encouraging in class. A copy of this is included alongside this newsletter for your reference. We ask you to talk about them with your child and support the school. Thank you.

PE - please ensure that your child has PE kit in school, including pumps. If for any reason you feel your child is too unwell or has an injury that prevents them from taking part please confirm this with a written note. If there is no note the teacher will use their professional judgement as to whether the child takes part. Thank you.

If you wish your child to have milk at break time it will cost £8.03 for the term. Please make cheques payable to Worcestershire County Council

Football Club for Years 3 and 4 will start on Wednesday 19th September and run every week until light fails us. It will begin after school and finish at 4:15pm. A letter will be sent out next week requesting parental permission and there are no limits on places.

Table Tennis Club for Years 2, 3 and 4 will start on Thursday 13th September between 3-4pm. There is a charge of £15 per term to cover external coach costs, which works out at £1 per session. There will be a restriction on numbers so please complete the permission slip below and hand in to the office with payment by Tuesday 11th September. In the event of there being too many people for the coach to deliver the sessions effectively names will be drawn out of a hat and children placed on a reserve list if not successful - they will be given priority in future club opportunities.
We aim to provide as many clubs as possible at Hindlip to give your children a variety of opportunities. Being a busy school with a small number of staff we are reliant on teachers giving up their own time. There are times when staff will be absent due to meetings or illness. In the event of this and subsequent cancelling of the after school club we will give you as much notice as is possible.

A useful website for you to find out information on how to support your child at school can be found on www.parentscentre.gov.uk

We will be sending out curriculum information for you over the coming weeks.
