I called in purely by chance yesterday - for the first time in nearly 45 years!
I started at the school in 1959. The Headmaster was Mr Hedges - he lived in the house on the other side of Sling Lane.
My first teacher was Mr Penny but then we had Mr Murray. I will remember him for ever.
The present headteacher Mrs King was very welcoming & showed me round.
I saw the room where I took my 11-plus exam in 1962....
The tree has gone from the playground - it was in the girls side (there were different parts of the playground for boys & girls). There was a small barbers shop
opposite the school (more of a hut really..) & a tuck shop next door (where the current barbers is), 4 chews for a penny (old penny!!) out of a massive glass jar. We had our dinners in the memorial hall, I was a chair monitor...
These are some of the pupils I remember (in no particular order). Julie Perkins, Carla Gregory, Hazel Croucher, Andy Norton, Malcolm Magnet (I still see him), Gordon Wakelam, (one day he ran into the school pond - just couldnt stop!!)
John Revel... Gordon Spicer (he tripped over the tarpaulin on the floor of the Memorial Hall one day - he fell over & put his face into the plate of foodwaste he was carrying - I can still see him now with gravy & peas dripping from his face...) Tim Bartlett, (he went on to be a headmaster in Northampton), Jimmy Churchill, (he was a good friend) Terry Senter, Jonathan Dollin, Kenneth Lamb, Stephen (Hicky) Wood, Martyn (Pinger) Aston, Simon Rae, Jill Pengilley, Sally Sharp, Ruth Bridgewater, Barbara Owen, Alan Rowlands, Philip Barker.
Does anyone remember me?- I'm Andy Oakley. I left in the summer of 1962. Fond memories...
I will dig out a photo. Maybe that nice Mrs King can find a way of posting on the website..... What are you all doing now I wonder............?!

SEE THE PHOTO OF THE CLASS OF '61 ON OUR NEWS PAGE!!

I was at hindlip from 1976 to 1981 and enjoyed it a lot, especially the teachers... Mr. Brighton, Mrs. Bacon, Mrs. Errington, and Mrs. Folkes in class 4. Even back then there was talk of how long the school would survive with so many mergers and lack of funding, but it's good to see it still alive and kicking! Thanks to a good start at Hindlip, I now work as an assistant professor in Anesthesiology at the University of Rochester, in upstate New York.

I've really enjoyed looking at the many projects the children have been involved and have printed off some of the pictures of masks and egyptian designs. I've put them in the photo album so that the children can look back on them in years to come. Perhaps you could put some more photo's of events on the website - for us to look at such as the Rugby tournament.

Well done to all of you for your interesting website. I really enjoyed reading about Mrs. P. Head and wonder how she manages to eat. Does she live on soup or bread and milk?
It was also good to see that Cora Weaver has been busy giving some of you strange baths as a part of the water cure. The last time my children met her she was a rather firm Victorian School teacher in the Hartlebury Schoolroom.
I hope that you will keep adding new pages for us to read.
